Kevin and Ashley had a beautiful, magical day at South Hills Country Club in Fond du lac, Wisconsin. I had done their engagement photos almost a year prior at Kohler Andrae State Park, and Kevin stood up in a wedding I photographed back in 2020, so when their wedding day came, it already felt like we were old friends. Getting to know my couples and making sure they have an incredible experience with me is truly a vital part of my process!
Kevin and Ashley's wedding also holds a special place in my heart, because Cory and I were also married at the very same venue back in 2018! Because I develop friendships with my couples and clients, it is not uncommon for me to tear up when the bride is walking down the aisle, or when she shares a first dance or first look with her dad. I would be lying if I said this didn't happen more than once at Kevin and Ashley's wedding - the added scenery of the day mirroring my own wedding definitely made an additional impact!
Some of my favorite parts of the day (though it is hard to choose just a few!) were doing bridal party and bride and groom portraits on the golf course. South Hills truly offers such a beautiful backdrop for photos, with options including weeping willows, a small bridge, and much more. Kevin and Ashley's wedding party additionally had some ideas to incorporate, including posing with the golf carts, and a cooler of cold drinks. I am more than happy to incorporate any photo ideas the bride and groom or other wedding party members have - as long as the ideas do not put any of us in immediate danger or anything ;) You know, have to draw the line somewhere!
One of my other favorite parts of the day was simply seeing Kevin and Ashley interacting with guests at their reception. They had a number of different themed dances including the traditional dollar dance, the bouquet/garter toss, and a wedding party dance. During these, it was so apparent just how much everyone in attendance loved and supported them Kevin and Ashley. Everyone came out & came together to celebrate the start of their lives and it was so great to see such a touching, exciting and memorable reception to kick off their marriage. Here's to many happy years together!
